To say that I was impressed with not just the food at The Shakespeare but the whole vibe would be a massive understatement. Nothing that I viewed on their website honestly prepared me for what I saw and tasted when I got there. Located inside the William Hotel on East 39th, what first caught my attention was how snug the entrance feels when you first walk inside. Directly to your right is a very cool and very old school bar area that seems like the exact type of place you want to grab a few drinks with some friends after a long day at work. And also the type of place where getting super drunk kinda makes sense. It's classy and homey at the same time.
Directly upstairs is The Garden Room, a beautiful and homey space, that is just wonderful to be inside of. Intimate and classy. This is the kind of space that you can easily have a business meeting in or a romantic dinner. But enough of what the place looks like because honestly even if this place were located inside of one of those ATMs chained to the outside of a bodega that I keep seeing around the East Village I'd still come back here for the food alone. Their incredible salmon burger is just one reason I'd easily make the return trip here. Unlike most other fish related burgers, this one actually tasted like the fish it claims to be. Other salmon burgers can be too dry or have too much breading on them or just taste flat out bad. But the Shakespeare's Organic Scottish Salmon Burger might possibly be one of the best you'll try in all of New York City.
